Because they’re SMALL.
When we get together, our goal is to have groups small enough for you to go deep in a community but still a group that can be on mission. At LEMC, we’re a church of small groups, not a church with small groups. A lot of our growth occurs in the environment of small groups. We believe that church isn’t just what happens on Sunday – church is happening within our community throughout the week. We’re worshiping God whether it’s through handing out cookies at a nursing home, having a bible study or planting trees! No matter what we’re doing, we can make it a way to show Christ in Listowel. As growing disciples a lot of Loving God, Loving Others and Serving the World occurs in this context. It’s important to start small and you will be amazed at what God can do with a few people!
Small groups at LEMC are focused on encouraging each other to be more like Christ. So the focus isn’t so much on information at it is on Transformation.
2 Corinthian 3:18 says “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
We believe that transparency, commitment, prayer and truth are essential to transformation and we’re intentional about pursuing these things when we gather as a small group. We want to be a transforming community that transforms communities.
Small groups will meet sporadically throughout the fall, winter and spring. Typically groups are meeting on a short-term basis. This gives everyone in our community a chance to meet new people and engage in discussions with others who have similar interests and share their love for Jesus in tangible ways. There is always a variety of groups, as well as meeting times available.
