KEN AND CAROLYN BENSON (EMCC World Partners)
TRAINING AND RECRUITING, TORONTO, CANADA
Ken & Carolyn Benson are World Partners missionaries serving with a missionary training program called “MissionPREP” in Toronto, Ontario. Their 13 years of experience as missionaries in Portugal, and their training as teachers, has equipped them to help organize and facilitate courses, mentor and encourage the missionary families they serve, who are preparing to move cross-culturally.
They work with other facilitators offering 2 week programs, one in the area of culture and ministry orientation and another in the area of language acquisition. CrossTraining, a third program offered biennially, is an 8 month experiential program integrating academic study, an ethnic church practicum, an overseas internship and a strong mentoring component.
These programs are being used by EMCC World Partners to help equip people who are preparing for cross-cultural ministry. The partnership between Ken and Carolyn, MissionPREP and EMCC World Partners to recruit and train the next generation of missionaries fits the EMCC mandate and vision for global ministry.
Their daughters, Charity married to Ben, and Chara, are living in Toronto, working in their respective professions of Social Work and Teaching.

DISCIPLE-MAKING IN ROMANIA
After many years as World Partners with EMCC, Kevin and Michelle became EMCC Recognized Missionaries working with Greater Europe Mission (GEM) in southern Romania. Their new director, Dwight, was involved in the first mission to this area of Romania with their Pastor, Raul Costea so there had been a connection for many years. Pastor Raul was quite excited for them and the possible benefits for the ministry here in southern Romania. GEM has wanted to plant a family in the south for quite a while but it is difficult here. When Kevin & Michelle approached them, they were welcomed with open arms. It was a big step, but they continue to be confident and obedient to God’s will and call upon their lives
WILLY & JESS VERSTEEG (Power to Change)
EVANGELISM at the UNIVERSITE du QUEBEC a MONTREAL
It was through Power to Change in Montréal that both Willy & Jess heard of the need here in Québec. For Jess it was through her experience doing the Montreal summer project as a student in 2006, for Willy it was through his regular Reading Week missions trip to Montreal in 2008. Now, as they both serve alongside each other in Montréal, they are constantly reminded of the need here for the people of Québec to know the truth about Christ. Yet time and time again as they talk to students, they can see how uniquely open they are to discussions about faith, spirituality and the gospel.
They are now in positions of leadership, Willy as he leads the French staff team and Jess as she develops staff and resources. They see these University students uniquely positioned to be the future of Québec, a future that can include believers who live out their faith in their workplace and communities. Seeing this opportunity as one they cannot miss out on, God continues to affirm their place in this story. They are excited to give other people the opportunity to partner with them and have their own place in this story alongside them.
