Pastor of Care & Connection

Vision Alignment with LEMC

We’re looking for someone excited about a culture of discipleship and multiplication-every disciple making disciples, developing lay leaders, and multiplying groups, pastors and churches. We want to do our part in the great commission, making disciples of all nations, through leaders who live by example, and who empower and equip others to do the same.

Job Overview

This pastor’s focus will be to provide and increase Care at LEMC, to Coach individuals and leaders to live out their mission effectively, and to help Connect people to ongoing Groups, Teams and relationships. This pastor will serve under the Lead Pastor (who serves under LEMC Council) as part of the LEMC staff team.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Is in agreement with the EMCC Statement of Faith;
  • Is credentialed as an EMCC Pastor or is willing to pursue credentialing with the EMCC;
  • Has some experience in Pastoral ministry;
  • Is willing to move to live in or near the community of Listowel.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Personal visits with those going through difficult seasons of life (health challenges, marriage struggles, shut-in, loss, parenting challenges) and connecting them with helpful resources as needed;
  • Personal visits with those who are new to LEMC, or disconnected, to encourage them and help connect them to ongoing Groups, Teams and relationships;
  • Participation in the encouragement and coaching of lay-people, as they also do care visits and hospitality with new people (a team called Sunday Shepherds);
  • To provide leadership in the expansion of Sunday morning hospitality, with the purpose of increasing people’s meaningful connection to one another;
  • To provide leadership of the Sunday morning prayer teams, in the development of their skills, accessibility, and the number of volunteers;
  • To lead a Small Group or Missional Community, as an outlet of one’s own missional and disciple-making purpose, and as a means to develop as a missionary and disciple-maker;
  • To preach 6-8 times through the year, as part of the LEMC Preaching Team;

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • To work alongside the Lead Pastor in the development of clear, simple steps people can take to start serving on a Team, joining a Group, or leading a Group;
  • Lead or participate in funeral services and weddings, as requested;
  • Oversee the Benevolence Team at LEMC, which functions under Sunday Shepherds;
  • Speak and lead a message and singing at nursing home services, every other month, in connection with the Listowel Ministerial Network;

Involvement in Leadership Team:

  • Work as a team with other LEMC leaders and staff
  • Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings and preaching meetings
  • Meet regularly with the Lead Pastor for coaching and support
  • Attend and participate in Vision Committee meetings, LEMC’s Annual Business Meeting, LEMC Townhall meetings, and, as able, in regular Council meetings
  • Ensure all RISK policies are implemented and carefully followed
  • Meet with the Lead Pastor for formal peer reviews 2-3 times per year. At the beginning of the performance year, the Lead Pastor will share the new Job Expectations, and the Pastor of Care and Connection will create their Personal Development Plan (PDP) for the year. During each review, the Lead Pastor & Pastor of Care and Connection will review the job expectations and PDP
  • At the end-of-year review cycle, the Lead Pastor and Council will obtain upward feedback (from volunteers) to assist with the review process, in identifying potential areas of strength and growth
  • Stay familiar with LEMC policies, as needed
